Kat Von D has been around for a while now and hit the UK via Debenhams sometime last December (I believe) however I've only just immersed myself into Kat's world - I got a lippy for my 18th - so when I got an email from Glamour Beauty Club offering me a free lipstick, the famous Tattoo Liner and her new perfumes, I couldn't say no! Glamour Beauty Club is a free scheme run by Glamour mag where they send you offers for freebies that you may be interested in, and all you have to do is say 'yes' and they're on their way to you...it really does seem too good to be true!
Mercy Studded Kiss Lipstick
The lipstick I got was in the shade 'Mercy', which is a dark purple-red with a hint of gold glitter in it. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and the mini sample was so cute. Unfortunately I found the lipstick was quite streaky when applying and it took a few layers for it to become totally opaque and even, but once it was on it looked stunning. I'm not sure it will be an everyday lipstick for me because I'm so pale so it's quite a statement but it will most definitely be used on nights out. There's 1.2g of product in this mini sample and in a full sized KVD lippy there's 3g, so you get a lot of product for free! I'm so glad I tried it out as it's definitely not a colour I'd usually go for due to being so dark, but I feel like I can learn to love it so much that I may need to buy a full sized one when this runs out.
So, just a quick (and embarrassing) disclaimer - I have never used an eyeliner in my life before trying this out. I've always used a darker eyeshadow to accentuate my eyes and blended it all together, so I am a total novice and will also be totally judging this eyeliner on how easy it is to use for a literal liner amateur. There's 0.2ml in this sample and a full sized product contains 0.55ml, so once again it's a good amount for a freebie. The tip of the liner is super thin and the pigment is amazing. I found the liner fairly easy to use but my unsteady hand meant it got a lot thicker than I wanted it to be, and I found the liner bled a little towards the outside of my eye. I wanted to keep this review as honest as possible so I haven't touched up or corrected the liner, so you can see how embarrassingly unsteady my hand is and how it bled a little.
I really like these samples and while I was sceptical about the lippy at first, I feel like I need to try and wear it more often as I stick to nudes far too much. The liner has also inspired me to give winged eyeliner looks a go as I've always been to scared of messing it up, but practice makes perfect and this was so easy to use. I definitely think I'll be buying the full sizes of both these products if I use them enough, and if my eyeliner skills improve!
