Last week I received two 'Highliners' from Marc Jacobs Beauty. A quick disclaimer - I got them for free through an Influenster Voxbox, so I didn't actually pay for these products but that doesn't mean my review won't be honest! I was super excited to try these out as I'm a complete amateur when it comes to eyeliners, so I wanted to see how good they were for someone like me. I received two shades, Deja Blue and (Earth) Quake.
I absolutely fell in love with this bright blue as soon as I opened it. I'm starting to get into weirder and wilder colours when doing my makeup, so this definitely ticked that box. It was super creamy and easy to use, I wanted to use it in my waterline but it didn't seem to sit properly (maybe because it's so creamy) so I put it under my eyebrow to get a proper test of the product. Here's the final look! (By the way, an overall review of both products will be at the end).
I wasn't too sure about the earthy brown colour of (Earth)Quake due to my blue eyes, brown eyeshadows have never suited me. Istillgave it a go, though. The formula was exactly the same as Deja Blue, which shows the products are consistent. It was creamy and so easy to apply to my lash line. I applied it quite thick and then blended it out with a Spectrum A06 brush. I must say, I quite liked the final look but I probably won't use the colour that often purely because it doesn't suit my eye colour. I think it would be better suited to someone with brown eyes.
I'm aware it's not that visible, by the way. That's just how I like it!
These Highliners retail for £20 at John Lewis and I totally think they're worth that price. There's 0.5g of product in each and the pens have a little twisty thing at the bottom to give more product (described perfectly, I know) so that you don't have to carry a sharpener around with you. Both colours were intensely pigmented and were sooo creamy. The formulas were practically identical except for the fact the swatch of (Earth)Quake was way more difficult to take off, which isn't a huge issue. They're easy to blend and have great staying power once they're down, but you do have to work quick with the blending! I loved both products, but do think I'll be using Deja Blue more solely because it compliments my eye colour much more. However I won't be getting rid of (Earth)Quake as I think I could give it some deserved love. They've both got the approval from me, and another thanks to Influenster for sending them to me.
Another disclaimer..I've edited my skin in the above photos because I have no other makeup on so I wanted to smoothen it, but I haven't edited my eyes or the products in any way.
