BEAUTY

Project Pan 2018

After reading Laura Capon's article last year about how much money she'd spent on makeup/beauty products in 2017, I was desperate to do something similar. So, in 2018 I set myself the goal to only buy a new makeup product if I needed a replacement - excluding eyeshadows and lipsticks, of course, because I have no self control. I'm just warning you in advance, the amount I've spent is pretty worrying.

Disclaimer: products marked with a * have been gifted by the brand. Oh, and did I mention it had snowed?!
Fragrances
Victoria's Secret body spray in Pure Seduction - £17.
Victoria's Secret perfume in Angel - £65.
YSL perfume in Black Opium (my scent of 2018) - £72.
Okay, it's embarrassing how expensive my taste in perfume is. I'm actually surprised I only got through three fragrances, but I always have a lot of perfumes on the go at once.

Skincare
Note: I haven't kept hold of all of my moisturisers/toners etc.
I could not live without my Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater, so no wonder I got through two full-sized bottles at £11 and one travel-sized at £7.
Picture
Cleansers
Liz Earle Hot Cloth Polish cleanser - £15 (totally worth the money).
Superdrug Naturally Radiant cleanser - £5.99.
I threw away all my face washes, but I'm still shocked that I only got through two cleansers all year considering I cleanse religiously.
Picture
Serums
2 x Superdrug Vitamin C serum - £5.
Glossier Super Pure - £24.
Nip+Fab Kale Fix shot serum - £25.
Nip+Fab Viper Venom Fix shot serum - £25.
Skinkissed Flawless Skin serum - £25*.
Picture
Spot Treatments
2 x Witch Hazel Sticks - £2.50.
Lip Care
Nivea lip balm - £1.
EOS - £6.
Vaseline with cocoa butter - £2.
2 x Elizabeth Arden 8-hour lip balm - £10.
I use lip balms all the time and have multiple on the go, so it's no shock that I've spent almost £30 this year.

Makeup
Mascara
I use mascara almost daily, so I'm not surprised that I got through ten this year.
L'Oreal Volume Million mascara - £11.
L’Oreal Mega Volume Collagene mascara- £10.
Beauty Pie Über Volume Boost - £20/3.36 depending on membership*.
Colour Couture - approx £10 (I don't think this is available any longer).
Givenchy Noir Couture black satin mascara travel size - approx £13*.
Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara (my holy grail) - 1 x travel size £10, 1 x normal size £19.
Tarte Gifted mascara travel size - approx £10.
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara - 1 x travel size £11, 1 x normal size £21.
Picture
Brows
Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow - £19.
Charlotte Tilbury brow gel - £20.
Benefit 24hr Brow Setter - £20.
2 x Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel - £23.
Picture
Primer
MUA eye primer - £4.
Urban Decay Self-Adjusting primer - £24.
Too Faced Hangover primer - 1 x travel size £12, 1 x normal size £27.
Benefit Porefessional primer - travel size £7.
Picture
Foundation
Anastasia Beverly Hills foundation stick - £25.
Tarte Shape Tape hydrating foundation - £33.
Picture
Concealer
Eight concealers this year?! That's a little worrying, I can't lie.
6 x Revolution Conceal and Define - £4.
Maybelline Eraser Eye - £9.
Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer - £23.
Picture
Setting Spray
2 x Mac Fix+ - £19.
Too Faced Hangover setting spray - 2 x travel size £12, 1 x normal size £27.
Picture
Lipstick
Mini Jeffree Star velour liquid lip - £7.
Did I really only get through one lippy?!?!
Eyeliner
The Body Shop gel pen liner - £9.
Accessories
2 x Beauty Blenders - £17.
Real Techniques blending sponge - £10.
Picture
So, in total I spent a whopping (and embarrassing) £903.50!! I will never complain about my financial situation again, that is a shocking amount and pretty unnecessary. This year I'm definitely going to try to use more drugstore products and prioritise my skincare more so I don't actually have to spend so much. Hopefully in a year's time I'll publish a similar post but with a much lower total!

Wow you've done so well to finish so many products - I love the idea of doing a panning project, and try and use things up before buying something new.

I spend a lot on makeup, obviously being a beauty blogger we have to buy new products to review them but this post has actually worried me because I bet I spent just as much last year! I'd dread to see how much I spent in total to be honest, definitely going to cut down this year after reading this!

It's so scary to see how much we spend, isn't it?! I'm definitely trying to go more drugstore with my beauty products this year and I've just put myself on a lipstick ban!

This is such a good idea! Thankfully I don’t buy make up unless I need something anyway - it’s just not something I spend my money on. But I do get through a LOT of eyebrow pencils!

This is such a good idea and a great way to track spending! I don't spend much on makeup, but my weakness is stationery plus I went through a phase of collecting enamel pins last year, ha ha. I don't want to add it all up, I imagine it would be a crazy amount lol. Thanks for sharing Soph, great post, I'm interested to see what the total will be next year :) <3 xx

This was such an interesting post to read! How you only got through 1 lipstick is beyond me - lipstick is an everyday essential for me haha. x

Oh, lipstick is an everyday for me too! I'm still a bit baffled how I only got through one but I do use them on a pretty heaving rotation.
